Bizarre Prototype Chain Handgun

I’m having trouble finding any information about this fascinating handgun other than that an original Russian caption translated as “7.62mm Pistol prototype. Power tape. Capacity of the tape 36 shots.” It looks similar to the Josselyn revolver, an 1866 American design that fed up to 20 rounds kept in individual chambers linked by a chain. It May Not Look Like It, But This Is a Gun

Today’s firearms oddity is the Baylè palm pistol. Patented by Frenchman Charles Baylè in 1879, this double action handgun fired 6 centerfire 5mm rounds. The rod screwed into the handle was used for loading. It looks like a staple gun, doesn’t it? Link | Photo: Horstheld

This Is What It Looks Like When You Fire a Gun Underwater

Andrew Tuohy of Vuurwapen Blog captured this high speed shot of a .45 caliber M1911 handgun being fired underwater. Did he have to modify it to fire underwater? “Nope,” he writes. John Moses Browning knew what he was doing when he invented that gun. Link -via Say Uncle

Guess the Special Purpose of This Gun

This rare handgun was made to function in an unusual environment. Can you guess what that is? Hit the jump for the answer. Underwater. According to my sources, the Soviet 4.5mm B-VI-307 was developed in the 1960s specifically for submerged use. The gun never made it into production. The one pictured above is at the Central [...]

Tactical Baby Stroller

You’ve got to protect your kids from all harm, but that’s not why this stroller has a rifle and a shotgun attached. Competitive practical shooters, particularly those in 3-gun competitions (rifle, shotgun, and handgun) have to transport a lot of gear around. Some have found that it’s easier if they modify jogging strollers to carry [...]

Transformers Pistol

Competitive shooting champion Rico Gonzalez Papa owns this magnificent modified handgun. He calls it the “Modified Megatron.” I doubt that it transforms into something more awesome than its current form, for such a thing is not possible. Early Knife Pistol

Two years ago, I posted about the Apache, an unusual weapon consisting of a folding knife, handgun, and knuckleduster made in the second half of the Nineteenth Century. This weapon appears to be an earlier — or at least more primitive — version of that concept. It’s a knife with a single-shot percussion pistol. There’s [...]

Pistols Firing Underwater in Slow Motion

(Video Link) Destin of Smarter Every Day wanted to find out what would happen if he fired a handgun underwater. He rigged a revolver and a semi-automatic pistol to fire inside water-filled tanks and recorded the results in slow motion. The actual shooting starts about two minutes into the video. After firing off two rounds, Destin [...]

Pistol Gate Latch

This is an old M1911 handgun turned into a gate latch! Richard Mann spotted it at Gunsite, a private marksmanship school in Arizona. Link via Everyday, No Days Off

Man Born Without Arms Shoots, Reloads Handgun

(Video Link) Michael, the cousin of YouTube user grtwhthunter4, was born without arms. Watch him shoot and reload a 1911 .45 ACP handgun using only his feet. via Firearm Blog
