Welcome to the Anthropocene

Two hundred and fifty years ago in Europe, a series of invention ushered
the Industrial Revolution. Since then, modernization has swept through
the rest of the world, much to the benefit of man.

It took 200,000 years for the human
population
to reach 1 billion. It took only 123 years for the world
population to reach 2 billion, and 33 years after that to reach the 3
billion mark. Now, human population grows by 1 billion every two decades
or so. (As of today, there’s an estimated 7.1 billion of humans on Earth).

Keep that in mind as you watch this beautifully animated 3-minute journey
through the last 250 years of human history: Welcome to the Anthropocene,
the Age of Man.
