The Upside-Down Illustrations of Peter Newell

Peter Newell’s work was very popular at the end of the 19th century, appearing in children’s books like Topsys and Turvys, a collection of poems and images that can be viewed upside-down or right-side-up. Below are my favorites. His work also appeared often in Harper’s Weekly, Scribner’s Magazine, and The Saturday Evening Post. Take a look at some examples.
