At the Libraries: Forgotten Bookmarks

Each week Miss Kathleen provides links to a variety of stories about libraries, authors, and books. If there’s something noteworthy going on in your local library, leave us a comment!
Let’s start off with a sweet little blog documenting the strange things a rare book collector finds in his books. A bookish found objects!
A Christmas tree made out of books! What could be more festive, I ask you? And it’s the perfect addition to a library, of course. Warning: the site is in Polish, but the photo is universal!
Speaking of Christmas, here are some stocking stuffers for the library-lover in your life. Ahem, ahem.
Or maybe THIS. Cover your walls with full text art!
Or, if it’s someone really special, how about really special bookshelves? This site has a great collection! (Thanks, Paul!)
Okay, but enough of the crass consumerism, you say. How about free stuff instead? If you live in or near Baltimore, then you are in luck, because that is where the very free Book Thing is! Get thee there posthaste, and please report back to us!
Speaking of reporting back, a few weeks ago we read about a new bookstore in Nashville, and one reader reported back on his visit. (Thanks, Jesse!) Got any bookstore or library pics for me? I’d love to see them!
A few months ago, I wrote about mysterious book sculptures showing up in Edinburgh. The anonymous artist is back and, sadly, it seems like these are the last of them. Breathtaking!
Oh you guys, the cats have got to go? Say it isn’t so!
Here’s some holiday magic for you. Tensions run high during finals week, so best keep noise in the library to a minimum, guys!
It’s Blog of the Month time, and for the first time ever, we have a TIE. Yes indeedy, i just couldn’t choose between two amazing tumblrs that were recently brought to my attention. First up is the Bibliothaecavore for her (his?) All Things Library. Behold. Go waste some time, and when you’re done, feast your eyes on this tumblr, devoted to Ryan Gosling and his obviously-true-and-in-no-way-manufactured love for the library. (Thanks, Annie!) And when you’re dong with that, email me about what you think should be the next Blog of the Month. Or drop a comment about awesome library and literary things you are doing. Or just say hi! I get lonely, guys. See you next week!
